Clinical supervision

Ilaria is under the supervision of Margherita Villa, clinical psychologist.

Why supervision?

A clinical worker or therapist would benefit from clinical supervision in order to monitor their work with clients and also to guarantee the best possible way forward to their professional and personal development.

The supervisor is not just accountable for a person’s actions and managing their workload and remit, they are also helping them reflect and develop. This can cover discussion of their role, the interface between personal and professional, how they wish to develop, helping them to link theory and practise, to formulate what is going on with complex cases.

The supervisor is also sharing his own experience, decision making and interpretation with the supervise’s observations, experiences and information gathering.

The key to great supervision is a collaborative and interactive process that monitors the quality of client care, improves clinical skills and facilitates personal and professional growth. It is crucial to explore clinical interventions, client related concerns, ethical issues, counter transference and cultural issues/biases.
